9-1-1 call processing


When a citizen dials 9-1-1, the caller needs help and is in an emergency situation. The 9-1-1 call taker at CAUCA receives the call, and validates both the telephone number of the caller and the address of the emergency. The call taker switches the call directly to the required service in priority, such as police, ambulance or fire department.

The whole process, supported by technologically state-of-the-art software, expedites call distribution which is generally completed within 60 seconds for a prompt and accurate response.

All conversations are recorded and kept for a period of 39 months, as required by Access to information Act, to serve as a reference as well as a tool for monitoring and improving of the quality of services.
