Fire call processing

The fire call taker maintains contact with the caller if the caller is in no danger, while the dispatcher routes fire resources to the location of the emergency.  As with medical call processing, performing this work in parallel allows for optimal response.

When the resources are notified by the dispatcher, the call taker enters the details of the incident, which allows the dispatcher to use the appropriate protocol for the situation. These protocols have been developed in collaboration with fire chiefs, fire safety project managers and a CAUCA representative.

As each municipality is responsible for its own emergency services, CAUCA has developed completely customized CAD (Computer-Aided Dispatch) software, and ensures that all elements in place are suitable and comply with the laws in effect. The software also adapts to the needs of municipalities by establishing specific protocols for each of them.

Fire department dispatch

CAUCA provides fire dispatch services adapted to the needs of municipalities. This dispatch is aided by computers (CAD) and programmed according to the intervention method and the type of emergency situation. CAD is very efficient because it determines the protocol to follow thus allowing a very significant savings of time and money.

Within seconds, the dispatcher is in contact with the fire department and ensures the smooth progression of emergency response. The dispatcher follows the alert protocol established by headquarters and notifies whatever parties are needed: inter-municipal assistance, Hydro Quebec, etc.

The system in place allows the mobilization of the needed resources based on the nature of each incident. Whether for a fire, water, vertical or confined space rescue, all fire department services and equipment are dispatched and geolocated in order to ensure the best coordination of operations.
